Messiah of Evil - Custom Soundtrack

Rejoice, you fans of twisted, evil psychedelic madness.
I present my custom made Soundtrack for the hideously insane 1973 surreal masterpiece MESSIAH OF EVIL.
No official soundtrack was released for this one, so I recorded as much audio as I could directly from the film. The results were edited over 22 separate stereo tracks, and finally mixed into one continuous piece of music.
The original score by Phillan Bishop is truly unsettling, and due to the recording process, a variety of eerie and disturbing vocals have been included in my final version.
Listen to this by candlelight with your favourite brand of cough medicine/ or use it to rid yourself of unwanted house-guests.

The Horror Of Abbot's Grange

As Autumn makes it's welcome appearance, I have finished a new compilation in time for Halloween. Those who enjoyed Children of the Drones , should find this one similarly haunting, and an ideal accompaniment to your favourite seasonal narcotics / drinks.
Be warned; there are sonic spectres invoked between (and during) tracks that remain unexplained..

Gerald Gardner - Radio Recordings

Gerald Gardner, the father of modern Wicca, was featured on a number of radio broadcasts along with a few of his coven members such as Patricia Crowther. Some enterprising soul gathered these recordings together and provided them on an audio CD that was bundled with a boxed set of Gardner's books "Witchcraft Today" and "The Meaning of Witchcraft" published and sold by Mercury Publishing in 1999 or 2000. The tracks are as follows:

Satan's Children - Custom soundtrack

Music from the bonkers 1975 film: Satan's Children. Once again, this one has no official soundtrack release, so I set to work and grabbed what I could. At just over 16 minutes in length, this is more of an E.P. than an album, but if you play it loud enough you wont be disappointed. I also threw in the fantastic theme from the equally bizzarre Asylum Of Satan as a bonus !
Here's a nice review of Satan's Children just to get you in the mood: "Troubled teenager Bobby (Stephen White) has a lousy time at home with a jerk of a stepfather and a sexually teasing stepsister making life unbearable. He storms out of the house one night only to be beaten up and gang-raped by gay bikers! The bikers dump Bobby near a compound of Satanists who take him in and, under the orders of Sherry (Kathleen Archer), nurse him back to health. Sherry is in control of the commune... uh... I mean coven while their leader Simon is away. She takes a liking to Bobby but others in the group feel he's unworthy of suckling at the Devil's teat. After Sherry tortures a lesbian coven member (Satan appears to hate homosexuals) and hangs several others that disagree with her orders, Simon shows up and punishes Sherry by burying her in the ground to the neck and letting ants sting her. Simon then tells Bobby that because homosexuals raped him he is too weak to be a member of Satan's worshipers. Bobby decides to take matters into his own hands, starting with tracking down the biker trash that started this whole mess. This film is truly demented. Hilarious and mindbendingly homophobic it seems to have been made by folks with little or no idea of reality or filmmaking. It does reach a wonderful level of twisted sleaze that keeps it fairly entertaining but all the fun to be had is unintentional. Satan's Children is a great example of mid-70s regional filmmaking at its best...or worst, depending on your outlook. Inept, cheap and poorly done on almost every level...."

Legacy of Satan - custom made soundtrack.

The 1974 movie Legacy of Satan is one of the films that was controlled by the Mob, run by Lou Periano and his "family", the people behind Bryanston Films. The company's first title was Return Of The Dragon starring Bruce Lee. It also released of Andy Warhol's Frankenstein, an X-rated, 3D film that was later re-released under its European title, Flesh For Frankenstein. Among the company's more notable releases was the 1974 horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Bryanston also released John Carpenter's first film, Dark Star, from the same year. Both of these became major cult film classics.
Legacy of Satan's extreme psychedelic blend of wigged-out visuals + an INSANE moog soundtrack, make for an unforgettable trip.
No official soundtrack has ever been released, which I thought was a shame considering the twisted madness of the entire score. For this reason, I set about recording the music directly from the film, and editing the results into a bootleg album. Some original dialogue is included (unavoidable due to the recording process), and I think it adds nicely to the freaky mood.

Occult Psychedelia

To cut a long story short, a cassette compilation came my way in the early 1990's featuring a selection of jaw-dropping late 60's psychedelia. Each track had an occult theme, and the tape appeared to have been released by thee Temple Ov Psychic Youth. The quality of the recordings varied, but the content completely blew my mind. I recently decided to re-make the compilation, and tracked down higher quality versions of each song in order to create this collection of mp3's. Fans of classic psychedelia will certainly enjoy this one; and the arcane/occult nature of the tracks is a huge bonus.

Wee Have Also Sound Houses - BBC Radiophonic Workshop Documentary - 1979.

Ok, this isn't the Radiophonic appreciation society (although it easily could be), but I couldn't resist sharing this gem which was first broadcast on April 1st 1979.
This is so much more than just a documentary, and I prefer to think of it as a Radiophonic album in it's own right. Listen to this late at night with your favorite 'relaxant' and you will be transported to another universe, I promise.
Rather than concentrating on the marvelous Delia Derbyshire, this 'documentary' also focuses on the life and work of workshop co-founder Daphne Oram, inventer of the mind-bending "Oramics" machine, which produced pure electronic sound.
It was about the size of a chest of drawers and was constructed from metal shelving materials. Electric motors pulled eight parallel tracks of clear 35mm film stock across scanners that operated like TV sets in reverse. On the film she drew curving black lines, squiggles and dots, all converted into sound. It looked and sounded strikingly modern.

This programme sounds like a cross between a dream and a freaky educational broadcast.

The Seasons: Radiophonic Workshop(1969)

The Seasons, Radiophonic Music & Poetry from BBC Schools Series Drama Workshop.
This is a BBC Study Record originally intended for use in Primary Schools, and features material from the BBC Schools Radio Series: Drama Workshop which was first broadcast in the Autumn of 1968.
A strange product of the early BBC Radiophonic Workshop, it's an unintentionally dark, folky electronic album that plays with a pagan flavour close to "The Wicker Man" and Arthur Machen's English stories of the occult. The contempory music label Ghost Box references it as a noteworthy influence on the hauntology genre.
This is a rip from the ultra rare vinyl LP: BBC Records Catalogue Number RESR 7 (1969). It features 12 Poems for the months of the year by Ronald Duncan and 4 poems for the seasons of the year by Derek Bowskill, set to a superb score of Radiophonic Music (of the concrete/electronic, pre-synthesiser era), composed and recorded at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop by David Cain. Presentation is by Derek Bowskill.

Children Of The Drones

 

 Here's a compilation I made about three years ago. It consists of spooky, warped, & wigged-out music; and is heavily treated with samples from freaky kids TV shows and off-kilter movies. Took me ages to make it, and a lot of weed.
